Friday 27th Feb, 8 pm:  An Ethnomusicologists perspective on Indian Music.

By Stefan Fiol (Bapat Residence, 11870 Shenandoah Trace, Loveland, OH 45140)

 

Stefan Fiol teaches at CCM and his current research investigates the development of regional music industries in the central Himalayas, and the ways that this music both sustains and undermines attempts to delineate regional political and cultural movements within India.  He received his PhD in Musicology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2008 after conducting three years of ethnomusicological research in India, and shorter fieldwork projects in Chile, Paraguay and Zimbabwe.

Guru Vasudeva is Senior Vice President (SVP) and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Nationwide Mutual Insurance based in Columbus.  In this role, Guru is responsible for Application Development, Project Management, Analysis and Information Risk Management shared services across the enterprise. He also leads IT Strategy, Architecture and Technology Driven Innovation for the company.
